Herne Hill and SE24 residents
Information:
On 22 Feb the Government directed Southwark Council to modify its Unitary Development
Plan so as to make Herne HiIl "urban" rather than "suburban".
Thus the Government has supported the Mayor of London and over-ridden the
wishes of Southwark Council and, we believe, the overwhelming majority of
local opinion. Over time, the excessive residential densities associated
with the urban zoning are likely to adversely affect the Dulwich area. All
of the Southwark part of SE24 north of the railway line from North Dulwich
to Tulse Hill would be "urban".
Request:
If any recipient of this message, or friend or neighbour, wishes to assist
the local press in forthcoming reporting of this matter, by joining a group
photograph of concerned local residents, please reply accordingly by e-mail
to toby.eckersley@southwark.gov.uk, by 8pm tomorrow, Monday 5 March. Apologies
for the short notice, but we have only just been advised of press deadlines.
The photo will be taken on Tuesday 6 March, preferably during daylight hours,
but I'm told that a later session might be possible. Would respondents, therefore,
please indicate whether they could only be available in the evening. All
respondents will be advised of time and place by e-mail late tomorrow evening.
